Empowering Educators at Good Shepherd Matriculation School
On 13th August 2025, an interactive session was conducted at Good Shepherd Matriculation School, Kancheepuram, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The program was designed to empower educators with practical insights into the FEFDY Curriculum, which focuses on nurturing the innate potential of young learners through child-centered and activity-based approaches. Teachers explored the unique features of the curriculum, which is carefully structured to address the diverse learning styles of children across Pre-KG, LKG, and UKG levels.
The session featured lively and engaging subject demonstrations. In Mathematics, educators were introduced to playful methods for teaching arithmetic concepts, making the subject more approachable and enjoyable for children. English learning was enriched through creative grammar activities and a strong focus on Phonics, emphasizing the importance of building early literacy skills. Science activities were presented through simple, hands-on experiments that encouraged curiosity, exploration, and inquiry-based learning. Each segment was thoughtfully designed to highlight the child-friendly and experiential nature of the FEFDY Curriculum.
Beyond subject-specific methods, the session emphasized the broader vision and structure of FEFDY, drawing connections to key child development theories and philosophies. Educators were guided through play-based and inquiry-led teaching strategies, thematic lesson planning, and the integration of life skills into everyday classroom practices. Attention was given to understanding and addressing different learning styles—Visual, Auditory, and Kinesthetic—while also highlighting the importance of enhancing both fine and gross motor skills through activity-based learning methods. Teachers also explored experimental approaches for teaching General Awareness concepts, reinforcing the need for innovation in early education.
The program concluded with an interactive reflection, where the six participating educators shared their enthusiasm and key takeaways. They expressed confidence in applying the newly learned strategies in their classrooms, ensuring that lessons remain engaging, student-friendly, and developmentally aligned. The session not only provided clarity on the FEFDY Curriculum but also inspired teachers to create classrooms that are more dynamic, inclusive, and child-focused.
